esk is a scale-up company in the media and entertainment industry based in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Producers of live entertainment; combining international brands with live audiences and with a particular focus on developing technologies to enhance the audience experience. Founded in 2022 and with a creative flair for telling powerful stories in a live setting, some of their recent shows and content have included: Wild Isles Live (a spoken word series with the BBC and Silverback Films), Life on Our Planet in Concert (an immersive concert experience with a live orchestra for Netflix) and Top Gun: Maverick in Concert (an orchestral blockbuster show with Paramount).

 

The role

Esk have a vacancy for an Accounts Assistant for two (2) days a week. Esk have experienced 100% growth year on year (ARR) and it is an exciting time for the business. With rapid expansion comes the need for a strong team. Therefore, esk is looking to hire their first Accounts Assistant to work alongside retained accountants to help with AP, AR, and payroll administration. Additionally, to help manage a financial model across multiple markets with reporting to international production companies and streamers. The successful candidate will ideally have experience in a media and entertainment space with record keeping on software with Quickbooks and Sage.

There is scope to get involved in meeting new clients and building on existing skills and expertise. As a company, we are always very keen to support staff in anyway that we can – whether that be through training opportunities or obtaining professional qualifications.

 

The candidate

Our ideal candidate will have experience in the preparation and completion of VAT returns and general bookkeeping as well as knowledge and experience of working in the creative arts and/or film & TV. We use QuickBooks and are migrating to Sage so knowledge of the software packages is essential. We are looking for someone who has excellent organisational skills and the ability to plan and prioritise their own workload. The candidate must possess interpersonal skills, both written and oral, and can build professional relationships with clients and colleagues. We are open to candidates who are qualified by experience – or have relevant professional qualifications.

 

Benefits of working for us

In return we can offer a competitive salary based on skills and experience between £25,000 – £28,000 pro-rata, 25 days holiday pro-rata plus 7 public holidays per year, increasing after 3 years of employment.
