New DJ agency Spektrum Talent launches
Electronic music industry veterans Matt Abbott and Phil York have announced the launch of Spektrum Talent, a “new breed of booking and management agency” that promises to handle every aspect of an artist’s career, from their music, brand and social media to breaking new global markets.
Abbott is a co-founder of label services firm Label Worx, the largest supplier to digital dance music platform Beatport, and also sits on the board of the Association for Electronic Music (AFEM), while York is the director of York Artist Management, which has guided the careers of DJs Paul Van Dyk, Alex MORPH, Ben Nicky and Cosmic Gate.
While Spektrum will handle the handle traditional booking agency role, Abbott and York say it is the team’s experience in other areas that will set them apart from rivals.
“By bringing everything in house at Spektrum, we can ensure that everything lines up perfectly”
“We believe the key to being a more successful artist lies in synchronicity,” the co-founders say in a joint statement. “Traditionally, booking agents look after bookings, managers look after your busy schedule and releases, PR teams look after your brand and social media and a distributor makes sure your music is in the right place.
“This usually means nothing is fully working in sync. By bringing everything in house at Spektrum, we can ensure that everything lines up perfectly, giving our artists peace of mind and allowing them to completely focus on creating and performing.”
Sketrum has already signed a number of promising electronic music artists, including DJ SKT, Gaist, GAWP, Jerome Isma-ae, Mindek, Rene Amesz and Son of 8.
