UK Music the first headline sponsor for Venues Day 2016
Campaign group UK Music has been announced as the first headline partner of Venues Day 2016.
UK Music will also partner with Venues Day organiser Music Venue Trust (MVT) on MVT’s three upcoming regional meetings, taking place in Manchester, Leicester and Bristol over the next two weeks.
Music Venue Trust’s Mark Davyd says: “We’re delighted to be working closely with UK Music in a number of areas protecting, securing and improving grassroots music venues. The recent success with the change to UK law on permitted development rights shows just what can be achieved by collaboration, and it’s great to have Jo and her team on board early with these events so we can ensure they make a genuine positive impact on the sector.”
Venues Day, aimed at those who own or operate small and medium independent music venues in the UK, this year takes place at a new venue, the Camden Roundhouse, on 18 October.
Venues Day 2015 took place at the Ministry of Sound in London and welcomed 400 delegates plus representatives from music industry businesses, cultural organisations and advisors on issues such as finance, insurance, licensing and legal issues. Its centrepiece was a heated debate between UK Music CEO Jo Dipple; Ed Vaizey MP, the UK’s culture minister; Michael Dugher MP, the former shadow culture minister; Joyce Wilson of Arts Council England; and BBC 6 Music’s Steve Lamacq.
