Dice introduces sick days for hungover staff
Employees of London-based ticketing disruptor Dice need no longer fake an illness after a heavy night, under plans for dedicated ‘hangover days’ unveiled by founder Phil Hutcheon.
Dice staff will be allowed a maximum of four hangover days a year, with bleary-eyed employees able to call in sick by sending a WhatsApp message with the ‘music’, ‘beers’ and ‘sick’ emojis (pictured) to their line manager.
“All our team live for music, and some of the best deals in the industry happen after a gig,” Hutcheon tells the London Evening Standard.
“We trust each other and want people to be open if they’re out late experiencing live music. There is no need for a fake sick bug.”
Dice – which has carved out a niche in the competitive UK ticket market by selling tickets with no booking fees and irretrievably tied to the mobile device from which they were bought, making unauthorised resale impossible – has, since launching in 2014, raised almost US$10m over four funding rounds. Earlier this year it introduced no-questions-asked refunds for customers no longer able to attend shows.
