Live Nation to book Pier 17 rooftop venue
Live Nation has agreed a deal to exclusively promote shows at Pier 17, an open-air 3,400-cap. rooftop venue set to open in Lower Manhattan this August.
The Pier 17 Rooftop Concert Series, programmed exclusively by Live Nation, will bring “elite artists” to the 3,400 standing/2,400 seated venue, which will feature views of Brooklyn Bridge, the Statue of Liberty and the New York skyline, says the company.
Pier 17 is part of the new Seaport District development, which is set to “revitalise” the Lower Manhattan seafront, according to Saul Sherl of the Howard Hughes corporation, which is overseeing the project. In addition the rooftop venue, the development will include 400,000sqft of food, fashion and other entertainment offerings.
“Pier 17 is quickly going to become one of the city’s favourite music venues for both fans and artists alike”
“Pier 17 is going to be a terrific addition to the New York music landscape and is quickly going to become one of the city’s favourite music venues for both fans and artists alike,” says Alan Ostfield, president of Live Nation North Atlantic. “Pier 17, with its flexible configuration, memorable experiences and views that are as good as it gets in New York, is going to be a one-of-a-kind venue.
“The Seaport District is going through a dynamic transformation, reemerging as a revitalised hub of culture and entertainment that brings music, sports, and culinary powerhouses together in one place for everyone in the city to enjoy. Live Nation couldn’t be happier to be part of this project with our partners at The Howard Hughes Corporation.”
The music line-up for the inaugural Rooftop Concert Series will be announced on 7 May.
