AEG buys out Sean Carlson’s FYF Fest stake
AEG has bought out the founder of FYF Fest, Sean Carlson, and will continue the popular Los Angeles festival without him, after the two parties parted ways last year.
AEG subsidiary Goldenvoice severed its ties with Carlson (pictured), who founded the festival (then known as Fuck Yeah Fest) as an 18-year-old in 2004, in November after allegations of sexual misconduct came to light. While the company gave no reason for the termination of its seven-year relationship with Carlson, Spin reported Carlson’s alleged sexually aggressive behaviour towards women was an “open secret” in the LA festival scene.
According to Billboard, AEG has purchased Carlson’s 50% stake in the festival, which will now be booked by Goldenvoice’s Jennifer Yacoubian, recently promoted to talent buyer at the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall (6,300-cap.) in LA.
No line-up has yet been announced for the rumoured 2018 event. FYF Fest 2017 included performances by Missy Elliott, Björk, Frank Ocean, Iggy Pop, Nine Inch Nails and a Tribe Called Quest.
