Audience flying blind at See Through Sound show

Badly Drawn Boy, Vaults, Newton Faulkner, rapper and comedian Doc Brown, The Voice winner Kevin Simm and Made in Chelsea star-turned-singer Andy Jordan will perform at the See Through Sound concert in aid of the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) in London next month.

Those attending the show, at Cadogan Hall (950-cap.) in Chelsea on 14 October, will be given ‘sim specs’, or glasses simulating blindness, giving them “an insight into living with sight loss, and creating a unique atmosphere for concertgoers and artists alike”.

Newton Faulkner, who performed wearing sim specs at the launch earlier this year (see video below), says: “My last performance with RNIB has really stayed with me, and I’m looking forward to being involved with another great event for a very important charity. The experience of playing even one song with sight-impairing glasses on is one that will stay with me forever.” Newton Faulkner released his fifth album Human Love in 2015 and has just completed a run in the hit punk musical American Idiot, which has won seven ‘What’s On Stage’ awards.

Wanda Hamilton, the charity’s group director of fundraising, adds: “RNIB’s See Through Sound aims to both entertain and educate music fans, providing them with the opportunity to experience live music in a whole new way. This concert will support us in achieving our goal of making every day better for the more than two million people living with sight loss across the UK.”
