AEG granted permission for residential high-rise next to O2
The owner of the O2 Arena has announced plans to build more than 262 homes adjacent to its popular entertainment venue in Greenwich, London. It will be the company’s first move into residential real estate.
The development will take the form of a 36-storey tower above the North Greenwich London Underground station. The housing block will also include a combined 22,500 square feet of commercial space on the ground floor and mezzanine level, as well as almost 2,000 square feet of flexible space on the upper level.
The tower will comprise 262 units, 59 of which will be classified as affordable housing. The company plans to start construction on the residential development in early 2020 and hopes the project will be ready for use by 2022.

AEG owns more than 120 arenas, stadiums and live entertainment venues around the world. The company took over the Millennium Dome in 2002 and, as the O2, turned it into the world’s most successful concert venue. The 20,000-cap. arena hosts events across live music, comedy and sport.
