Live Nation Middle East has secured a “landmark alliance” to bring international talent to Egypt’s new administrative capital city.
The promoter has joined forces with the Administrative Capital for Urban Development (ACUD) and domestic ticketing platform TicketsMarche in a “groundbreaking” partnership agreement aimed at establishing the city – located about 60km east of Cairo – as an entertainment hub.
The plan includes hosting 10-plus major concerts and events in 2025, spotlighting venues such as People’s Square, Nation’s Park and the Green River, continuing over the following years, in an effort to highlight the urban community’s ability to host large-scale global productions.
“This collaboration is a testament to the region’s growing appetite for global entertainment,” says Live Nation Middle East president James Craven. “Together, we aim to set a new benchmark for live events in the Middle East, creating unforgettable experiences that will put Egypt’s New Administrative Capital firmly on the global entertainment map.”
“The collaboration also aims to elevate the entertainment industry in Egypt by hosting world-class shows”
Construction of the New Administrative Capital began at the end of 2016. Covering an area of approximately 230,000 acres, it is planned to accommodate up to 8.5 million residents upon completion and aims to alleviate congestion in Cairo and address rapid population growth.
“The cooperation between the three parties aims to organise global entertainment events and concerts in line with global and Arab tourism trends, enhancing Egypt’s position on the global tourism map,” adds Eng. Khaled Abbas, chair and MD of ACUD. “The collaboration also aims to elevate the entertainment industry in Egypt by hosting world-class shows that cater to all tastes and generations.”
The vision is for the New Administrative Capital to become the first smart city in the Middle East, powered by sustainable urban developments.
“We want to show the world our readiness to host major global acts and for the world to see our ability to successfully host such events,” adds Abbas.
