Marianne Dekimpe, Live Nation Belgium booker, passes

Live Nation Belgium has paid tribute to its long-serving employee Marianne Dekimpe, who passed away on Friday 15 September, just over a month shy of her 50th birthday.

Dekimpe worked for Live Nation for almost 25 years, starting her career at Rock Werchter festival in 1993, originally as an assistant to founder Herman Schueremans and festival director Yo Van Saet. She later became a booker, working with both Belgian and international artists.

A joint statement from Schueremans and Live Nation Belgium staff says to have known Dekimpe is “to love her forever. Without her smile, there will be an emptiness at Live Nation Belgium, but we will fill it with the memories and gratitude we all have for the time we were able to spend with her.”

“Without her smile, there will be an emptiness at Live Nation Belgium”

She will, adds Schueremans, be “lovingly remembered as a caring, warm, and happy friend and colleague, and will be sadly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her”.

A statement from French sister Live Nation festival Main Square says Dekimpe will “forever have a special place in our hearts”, while ATC Live MD Alex Bruford describes her as a “wonderful, wonderful human being”.

A memorial service will be held at 11am this Friday (22 September) at Het Depot in Louvain (Leuven). In lieu of flowers or wreaths, friends of Dekimpe are invited to make a donation to the Fight Cancer Campaign (bank account details BE74 0688 9659 8107).

Dekimpe is survived by her husband, Patrick, and her 17-year-old son, Merlin.
