MMF UK membership up 25% year on year

The UK’s Music Managers Forum (MMF) has made two new appointments, including hiring its first industry relations and events manager, Joseph Lever.

Fiona McGugan, formerly the MMF’s general manager, has also been promoted to strategy and operations director. Both changes are effectively immediately, and “reflect both individuals’ significant contribution to the MMF’s growth and outreach”, according to the 660-strong artist managers’ association, which grew its membership 25% in 2018.

McGugan, who joined the association in 2012, has been instrumental in founding and developing the MMF’s Accelerator programme for music managers, which benefits 24 individuals from England and Scotland.

Lever, meanwhile, was the first beneficiary of the Jazz Summers Future Genius internship programme, launched by the MMF and Big Life Management in February 2017. He joined the MMF full-time in January 2018, and has led development of the organisation’s Education Associate programme.

“We are a really small, hands-on team, but we punch above our weight”

The MMF’s five-strong team is completed by CEO Annabella Coldrick, membership secretary Nicky Carder and Paul Bonham, who is taking a 12-month secondment from Arts Council England to manage the Accelerator Programme. The MMF’s office relocated to the Ministry of Sound at 103 Gaunt Street, London, at the start of 2019.

“The past 12 months has seen some truly exciting changes at the MMF,” explains Coldrick. “We are a really small, hands-on team, but we punch above our weight, and I am delighted to recognise the hard work of Fiona and Joseph in delivering truly groundbreaking initiatives like Accelerator and our Education Associate programme.

“Along with Nicky Carder and Paul Bonham, both have taken ownership of these in-house projects and consistently over-delivered. As a result, we have seen the MMF attract a record number of manager and associate members.”
