Paradise Artists’ Bill Monot passes

Bill Monot, co-founder of US booking agency Paradise Artists, has died aged 62.

Monot, who started California- and New York-based Paradise with Howard Silverman in 1989, passed away peacefully on Friday 10 August in Ojai, California, according to a statement from the company.

Monot began his career at the Al Schultz Agency in Waukegan, Illinois, before moving to Willard Alexander Agency, where in 1984 he became head of the agency’s Chicago office. In 1988, he moved to Ojai to start Paradise forerunner Entertainment Talent Agency (ETA).

Early in his career, Monot represented the likes of Maynard Ferguson, Buddy Rich and the Count Basie Orchestra.

Monot’s Paradise roster included Steppenwolf, Joan Jett and War

His Paradise Artists roster included John Kay/Steppenwolf, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, War, Blood, Sweat and Tears and Taylor Dayne, among others.

He was also a longtime ILMC member who had attended 13 conferences since 2003, including the most recent 30th-anniversary event in March.

Monot is survived by his daughter Megan Anderson, son-in-law Jason Anderson, grandson Tristan Anderson, mother Helen and brother Gerald.

In lieu of flowers, his family is requesting donations to the VH1 Save the Music Foundation.
