Norway’s Hove Festival resurrected for 2019

Hove Festival (Hovefestivalen), which ended in 2014 after eight years as one of Norway’s largest and most popular music festivals, will return under new management in 2019.

The new event, Hove Music Festival, is organised by Arendal-based Seaside Production, with support from the municipality of Arendal, which is set to contribute half a million kroner (US$58,335) over the next three years.

According to festival director Marius Berge Amundsen, the CEO of Seaside Production, the company has secured, in addition to financial support, a long-term lease agreement for the festival site at Hove, on the island of Tromøy – the former home of Hovefestivalen – as well as the backing of several of Norway’s leading promoters.

Benedikte Nilsen, the former CEO of Hove Republic – the Festival Republic-backed company which organised the old festival – is a shareholder, as is Stavern Festival’s Trond Myhre Eriksen.

“We will develop a solid foundation over time to ensure that this is one of the highlights of the summer”

“I have brought with me a team of highly skilled people who want the best for the city and the region,” Amundsen tells local news site Geita.

“We will develop a solid foundation over time to ensure that this is one of the highlights of the summer.”

Early-bird tickets are on sale now for Hove Music Festival 2019, priced at at 1,399 kr (US$163) . The first acts for the festival, which will take place on 28 and 29 June, will be announced in the coming months.

MIA, the 1975, the Offspring, Foals, Ellie Goulding and Imagine Dragons were among the performers at the final Hove Festival in 2014, which had a daily capacity of 15,000.
