DHL ups music presence with AEG logistics deal

Courier service DHL Express has agreed a three-year deal with AEG to become official logistics partner to a number of its venues, including The O2 in London.

DHL – a division of Deutsche Post, the world’s largest parcel company – inked the new partnership on the roof of The O2, the world’s busiest venue, yesterday, accompanied by several members of the Harlequins rugby team, with which the company also has a logistics deal.

The AEG deal joins existing logistics partnerships with the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra and the Rolling Stones’ Exhibitionism exhibition and sporting tie-ups with Manchester United, Bayern Munich and the Football Association of Ireland.

“DHL is the specialist for delivering global events around the world,” says Ian Wilson, UK and Republic of Ireland CEO of DHL Express. “As official logistics partner, we are proudly committed to our partners and highlight our dedication to offering innovative solutions for complex logistics tasks in sport, arts and culture arenas. Such world-class events enhance the profile of our brand and provide an excellent platform to experience DHL logistics live.”

Paul Samuels, executive vice-president at AEG, adds: “Our company is truly global, connecting sports, music and entertainment fans the world over. Partnering with DHL makes complete sense, with their global reach and proven capability to deliver when it matters.  For us, the show always goes on, and we know DHL will help it stay that way.”
