TEG appoints Timothy Ho as managing director of Asia
TEG has appointed Timothy Ho as managing director of the company’s Asia business, replacing veteran Brendon Bainbridge.
Brainbridge steps down after 17 years at the company – 11 as MD of Ticketek New Zealand and six as MD of TEG Asia.
“Brendon has been an asset to TEG from day one and I want to personally thank him for his friendship, commitment, loyalty and immense efforts in successfully launching TEG in Asia,” says Geoff Jones, CEO, TEG.
“Brendon has grown the business in the region, leading through the pandemic, the entertainment and ticketing industry’s most challenging period in recent times, positioning TEG Asia to now capitalise on a wealth of opportunity in the region.
“Timothy Ho, who has worked with Brendon for the last 12 months, will step into the role of managing director, Asia, and offer a seamless transition for our business in the region. I commend both Brendon and Tim on working so closely together, especially over the last four months when Brendon identified that he would be leaving to live in the US.”
Ho has an accomplished background with over 15 years’ experience in live entertainment and ticketing
Jones adds that he and Bainbridge are working on opportunities for him to continue with TEG after he relocates to Colorado.
His successor, Ho, has an accomplished background with over 15 years’ experience in live entertainment and ticketing prior to joining TEG.
“Timothy was a clear choice to step into the role – his experience in the sector, knowledge of the region and the TEG business will enable him to take the reigns and continue the expansion of TEG’s integrated model throughout Asia,” adds Jones.
Ho comments: “I am so proud to be taking on this new role and leading TEG Asia through this next chapter of expansion.
“Asia is at the forefront of every major discussion now for live entertainment and ticketing – it’s a great time to be stepping into this leadership role and fulfilling TEG’s long-term vision and commitment to Asia.”
Last week, IQ reported that the owner of TEG is allegedly planning to launch a sales process for the Australasian live entertainment powerhouse this April.

Management change-up at TEG’s Ticketworld
TEG-owned Ticketworld, one of the largest ticketing companies in the Philippines, has appointed a new general manager, as chief executive Bob Sewell retires.
Sewell, who founded the Manila-based ticketing service in 1995, will stay on at TicketWorld in a consulting capacity.
TEG has now appointed John Maclang as general manager at TicketWorld.
A lawyer by profession, Maclang has led technology and e-commerce platforms as a county manager in the Philippines, most recently for Hotel Link.
Australasian live entertainment powerhouse TEG acquired TicketWorld in November 2018. The ticketing company joined TEG’s Singapore-based Asian division, which is headed up by former Ticketek managing director Brendon Bainbridge.
TEG chief executive Geoff Jones praised Sewell for his work building the company, saying: “I want to congratulate Bob on the great work he’s done to make the business what it is today and thank him for his generous contribution in integrating the company into TEG.”
“I want to congratulate Bob on the great work he’s done to make the business what it is today and thank him for his generous contribution in integrating the company into TEG”
Commenting on the new hire, Jones comments: “John brings a strong commercial and management background in technology, leisure and the law. We welcome and look forward to working with him to deliver on our commitment to grow rapidly in Asia.”
Maclang, who has been effective in his new role since 24 July, states he is looking forward to “further develop[ing] Manila as a world class entertainment market.”
Sewell wishes Maclang and TicketWorld “all the best” for the company’s “next phase of development and growth.” The TicketWorld founder notes the maturity of the Philippine entertainment sector, which “is displaying all the signs that will ensure its position of strength in the Asian market.”
In recent years, TicketWorld has provided ticketing for tours by Guns N’ Roses and Katy Perry, as well as theatre productions the Lion King and Mamma Mia.
TicketWorld provides ticketing services to Philippine venues including Solaire Resort and Casino, Resorts World Manila, BGC Arts Centre (500-cap.) and the Cultural Centre of the Philippines (8,458-seated cap.).

TEG Asia: about ‘Australian knowhow on global stage’
Brendon Bainbridge, the former managing director of Ticketek New Zealand, is to relocate to Singapore later this year to head up the Australian company’s new Asian division.
TEG Asia, led by managing director Bainbridge (pictured), will spearhead all TEG’s ticketing and live entertainment activities in the region, including the recent acquisition of Malaysia’s leading ticketing company, TicketCharge, and other “soon-to-be-announced business interests” in Asia.
Replacing him at Ticketek NZ is Trina Tamati, most recently CEO of the NRL Auckland Nines rugby league competition.
“Brendon has done a fabulous job running Ticketek New Zealand,” says TEG CEO Geoff Jones. “He knows the sports and entertainment industry inside out and he gets what TEG’s strategy is all about. He has the leadership and vision to make TEG Asia a big growth story for the company. I am delighted to make this appointment of a trusted and long-standing colleague.”
“This is a great export story about taking the know-how developed in Australia and New Zealand and competing on a global stage”
TEG, which describes itself as “Australasia’s leading ticketing, live entertainment and data analytics company”, also includes ticketing platforms Ticketek and Eventopia, live entertainment divisions TEG Live, TEG Dainty (formed last July following the acquisition of Paul Dainty’s Dainty Group) and Life Like Touring, TEG Analytics, TEG Digital and Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena (21,000-cap.).
“There are so many opportunities opening up in the Asian entertainment market,” adds Bainbridge. “I have complete confidence that TEG has the knowledge and technology platforms to make a big impact.
“This is a great export story about taking the know-how developed in Australia and New Zealand and competing on a global stage. I am thrilled to have this opportunity and I thank Geoff for his confidence in me.”
