Slovenia, while small, is a solid stop on the Central European leg of the touring circuit, and Ljubljana’s Stožice Sports Park Arena a well-visited venue.

Iron Maiden were there in May on their Future Past tour, Louis Tomlinson is on the schedule for September, and Bryan Adams, Judas Priest, Zucchero, 2CELLOS, OneRepublic, and 5 Seconds of Summer have all visited since Covid restrictions lifted in May 2022.

Looking something like a giant clam and sited in a park on the edge of the capital beside a remarkable sunken football stadium, the arena, which opened in 2010, can comfortably claim to be unique.

A state-of-the-art indoor venue for around 12,000 spectators, its progressive design is aligned with the leafy and pleasant city, which enthusiastically pursues green policies, including a thorough pedestrianisation of the city centre in 2007.

Two years ago, an energy retrofit brought a new cost- saving, emission-cutting, digital multiplex lighting system to the arena, as part of a city-wide municipal scheme to save 4,465 MWh of energy per year.
