Arena Market: Russia

The online directory of 650+ arenas will go live shortly

The Russian government’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 put a halt to international touring in the country just as the live industry was getting back on its feet after Covid. At the time of writing, there was no clear end to the conflict in sight.

Even when it does end, there’s real uncertainty about how long it will be before artists feel comfortable returning to the country to perform, whatever promoters’ feelings about their government’s actions. Before the war, arena-level acts tended to head to Moscow and St Petersburg.

In the capital the key venues are the Adrenaline Stadium (7,000-capacity), the Crocus City Hall (7,500), Music Media Dome (9,950), Universal VTB Arena (12,273) and ice hockey venue CSKA Arena (10,000). In St Petersburg, the main venues are Jubileyniy Sport Hall (7,000) and the Ice Arena (12,300). Outside these two centres, there’s Yekaterinburg’s UGMK Ice Arena (15,000) and the Red Arena (7,000) in Sochi, among others.
