We are looking for an experienced Head of Operations to join our amazing team as a long-term member to play a leading, central and developing role in the planning and delivery of our portfolio of events, including Shambala Festival.

Kambe Events has a 20 year history of producing award-winning ethical and creative events.

Shambala Festival is our flagship show and we have several smaller in-house events.  We also produce events for third parties, provide a variety of consultancy services and have other interests as part of a diverse portfolio of activity.

We are a team of 11 who work alongside a wider family of freelancers and are mostly based at our offices in Bristol. We have a bright future ahead of us with inspirational projects in the pipeline and a drive to embrace modern, inclusive and ethical work practices.

JOB OUTLINE

As Kambe’s Head of Operations you will hold overall responsibility for the planning and delivery of all operational aspects of our in-house events, contract events and relevant consultancy contracts.  In 2022, Kambe Events will, primarily, be focussing on Shambala Festival while also developing projects and events for the future.  2022 will be a year of consolidation before embarking on more adventures in 2023 and beyond.

You will be operating at Senior Management level and it is our intention for you to join the company Board as the Director of Operations within 2 years.  You will be the lynchpin of the realisation of our events, taking them from concept, through planning and budgeting to their delivery and debrief.

Across our full event portfolio, you will personally deliver the planning and operational activity (with freelance support where necessary) and will be responsible for the line management of Production and Site team members.  You will oversee site design, mapping and management; licencing and logistics; accreditation and event systems; health and safety requirements as well as medical and welfare services; the implementation of our sustainability initiatives; and managing the effective delivery of our events in their build, live and break phases.

The role requires you to be available to work on site for all of our events. As a guideline, this will be approximately 3-4 weeks of the year in 2022 and up to about 8 weeks of each year in the future.  It will also, of course, include weekends and nights!

We are looking for someone to join the team for the long-term and want you to grow and develop with Kambe Events to be a central part of the company and its future.  We are looking for someone who can help us take Kambe to the next level, so we can realise the potential of our next chapter!

The key responsibilities of the Head of Operations include:

· Production of Event Management Plans (EMP)
· Oversight of event safety, working alongside a H&S Advisor where appropriate
· Licence & permissions applications, liaison with Statutory Consultees and Safety Advisory Group (SAG)
· Oversight of the implementation of event Sustainability Action Plans
· Oversight of Event Production Schedules
· Oversight of event concessions, traders and bars
· Procurement and recruitment of Operational contractors and staff
· Oversight of crew, artist and public accreditation
· Traffic management planning
· Recruitment and oversight of Event Control during event
· On-site overall event management
· Management of the Security teams, Stewards and other onsite staff teams.
· Line management of other key team members as required
· Oversight of site planning, mapping and site management

We are a small team and there will be tasks that fall outside of the above key responsibilities – you need to be flexible and willing to adapt to requirements.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

· Minimum of 3 years of Senior Festival/Event Operations experience
· Excellent IT literacy including Excel, Word, Dropbox and Google Drive
· Highly organised
· Excellent time management skills, ability to prioritise and to multi-task
· Excellent communication and relationship building skills
· Experience of managing event Health & Safety
· Experience of managing project budgets on target
· Experience of line management and professional personal development plans
· Excellent attention to detail
· Experience of Festival Site Management

DESIRABLE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

· Health & Safety Qualification (such as IOSH)
· Experience of working with Vector Works or similar mapping software
· Experience of working with Eventree event management software
· Experience of working with Asana project management software
· Driving Licence
· First Aid Certificate
· Plant certificates
· Ability to survive for 2 weeks on site without a bacon sandwich
