Guildhall School is a vibrant, international community of young musicians, actors and production artists in the heart of the City of London.

Ranked as one of the top ten performing arts institutions in the world (QS World University Rankings 2019), and recently awarded top conservatoire in the Complete University Guide Music League Table 2020, the School is a global leader of creative and professional practice which promotes innovation, experiment and research, with over 1,000 students in higher education, drawn from over 70 countries around the world.

The School is also the UK’s leading provider of specialist music training at the under-18 level with nearly 2,500 students in Junior Guildhall and the Centre for Young Musicians.

Across the campus the school has a Concert hall, Music Hall and Recital Room; two Theatres, a Studio Theatre and three Rehearsal Rooms that are all used as performance spaces. The School produces a very large schedule of performances and events with over 600 concerts, recitals and Master classes; 8 Dramas and 6 Operas & Opera Scenes each year. Additionally, the School delivers around 40 concerts annually in association with the Barbican, has a very successful Junior music school at weekends and an active year-round program of professional development courses & annual summer schools. The School also has an excellent working relationship with the BBC for whom the School’s Milton Court Concert Hall remains a frequently used venue for both live and deferred broadcasts.

The School now seeks to employ a Head of Performance Venues. Reporting to the Vice Principal and Director of Production Arts the post holder will be responsible for the management and operation of the School’s venues and will lead a team of four Supervisors, eight Technicians and an Administrator together with a pool of casual labour to ensure that the venues’ staffing levels are appropriate to the constantly varying requirements of the staff, students and clients of the school.

The post-holder will also line manage the Head of Recording and Audio Visual and their team of two Technicians, two Tonnmeister placement students and an Administrator to ensure that the schools prodigious recording needs (2500+ recordings a year) are delivered in an efficient and timely manner and that the audio visual requirements of the staff, students and clients of the school are met.
