The Royal Opera House offers world-class opera, ballet, music and dance live on stage at our iconic theatre in Covent Garden, and reaches out to audiences across the UK and beyond through ROH Cinema and digital content on other platforms. As a charity and we could not maintain our extensive programme of artistic work, digital presentations or our community and outreach projects, without philanthropic support, and the support of our sponsors and business partners. In September 2018, the Royal Opera House will launch a reopening of the building, following the Open Up project, when we will open our doors to an even wider group of people to experience what the Royal Opera House has to offer. This represents an exciting time to develop our future business partnerships, sponsorship and commercial propositions in order to grow our income and support, so we can showcase our work to a growing new audience.

The Development and Enterprises Department is looking for an experienced professional to join as Head of Business Development to lead a highly skilled team on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Director of Development and Enterprises, the Head of Business Development will play an important role in securing continued growth for sponsorship, advertising, licensing, venue hire and also retail and catering from September 2018, with an income target of c.£5m, as part of the Department`s target of £32m for the 18/19 season.

 

The ideal candidate will be an experienced team leader, with these qualities:

-An established track record in managing fundraising and sponsorship for major organisations through developing and managing business relationships

-Ability to manage a broad ranging business portfolio and to understand the business drivers for each sector, together with the ability to grow new business in line with organisational objectives and brand identity

-Good understanding of marketing communications including digital, as well as licensing, retail and catering commercials

-Strong management skills and use of management processes from research and analysis to proposal writing, contracts and management of servicing

-Ability to lead and inspire teams to deliver outstanding work

-Commitment to managing own learning and continuous professional development relevant to the role
