Athena Events Venue

Athena, centrally located in the heart of Leicester’s cultural quarter, is a grade II listed converted cinema built in the 1930s.

Almost 20 years ago, Athena became a unique and sought-after events venue that now hosts around 200 events per year. These events range from weddings and private parties to public events, boxing, corporate dinners, conferences, concerts, and awards ceremonies.

Athena is a uniquely situated live music venue with 2,000 standing and 1,300 seated capacities. The venue has been host to a variety of artists in its history, such as Kasabian, Olly Murs, JP Cooper, Diana Ross and and Stevie Wonder. The venue is seeking a part-time Live Event Marketing Coordinator to assist with the planning, marketing and ticketing of our live music catalogue.

 

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Live Event Marketing Coordinator role within the venue will suit someone with live music marketing experience, an eagerness to learn and a passion for music. You will become a part of a small but highly engaging team that designs and delivers every aspect of Athena’s live events in-house. The selected candidate will work closely with the programming manager and event administrator to deliver and fine-tune high-quality marketing campaigns that contribute exclusively towards high-selling live music events.

This role is part time and remote, suiting someone working alongside another job and/or studies.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordination of marketing campaigns for Athena’s live event catalogue
  • Social media management, including post scheduling and targeted ads
  • Liaising with ticketing partners and keeping track of ticket sales
  • Producing/sourcing content and copy for social media
  • Keeping the live events page on our website up to date

 

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

The selected candidate must have strong communication and customer service skills. A positive and hardworking attitude is essential, as well as the ability to work in a close-knit team whilst juggling multiple projects. A passion for live music and broad understanding of the industry is desirable, as this role places the selected candidate in the centre of the live music industry.

 

YOU WILL NEED

  • A knowledge of the ins-and-outs of the live music industry
  • A varied taste in music and understanding of the markets surrounding different genres
  • Local music knowledge or willingness to learn
  • A strong understanding of social media and experience running ads
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • The ability to work well under pressure
  • A high standard of PC skills, including knowledge of Microsoft word, excel, Outlook etc.
  • Strong initiative
  • Excellent teamwork
  • Creative thinking skills, and experience designing marketing campaigns
