Police are investigating the fatal shooting of two men in the US who were killed in the car park of an outdoor events venue just as a concert was set to begin.

The Pull Up Car Show and Music Fest took place at the I-29 Speedway in Pacific Junction, Iowa, on 10 August, and was due to feature performances from artists including rapper Boosie Badazz, Rob49 and Rich the Factor, as well as comedians and other entertainment.

However, with the live music part of the festival about to start, the event was cancelled after officers were called to the scene of the incident at around 9pm.

“An outdoor concert was about to begin when the shooting occurred in the parking lot”

“The Mills County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting at the I-29 Speedway in Pacific Junction,” says a press release from Iowa Department of Public Safety (DPA).  “An outdoor concert was about to begin when the shooting occurred in the parking lot. Two men, Marcus L. Johnson, 28, and Charles A. Williams Jr., 27, both from Omaha, Nebraska, died as a result of the shooting.

“The Mills County Sheriff’s Office is being assisted by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Iowa State Patrol, Omaha Police Department, and several surrounding law enforcement agencies. Law enforcement is asking anyone who has information about the shooting to contact the Mills County Sheriff’s Office.”

The DPA says the investigation is ongoing and no additional information will be released at this time.
