Superorganism lead best-ever year for Etep

The UK eight-piece were booked by 19 Etep festivals in 2018, a record-breaking year for the European Talent Exchange Programme

Rising stars Superorganism will finish 2018 as the year’s most-booked Etep act, topping the bill in a record-breaking 12 months for the European Talent Exchange Programme.

With 19 festival shows, Superorganism break the record set last year by British post-punk band Shame. In total, Etep –the Eurosonic Noorderslag (ESNS)-led initiative that aims to promote the spread of music across Europe and the world – facilitated 483 shows by 161 acts at 122 festivals.

9) Dermot Kennedy (ie) – 7 shows
10) Alice Merton (de) – 6 shows

2) The Great Escape (gb) – 29 ETEP acts
3) Iceland Airwaves (is) – 16 ETEP acts
4) Waves Vienna (at) – 15 ETEP acts

Eight new festivals, including Chinese event Clockenflap and Stereoleto in Russia, will join the talent exchange programme in 2019, expanding Etep’s geographical range.

Since 2003, Etep has facilitated 4,001 shows by 1,445 acts. Etep alumni include now-household names such as Calvin Harris, Editors, Idles, Dua Lipa, Aurora, Franz Ferdinand, the Kooks and the XX.

The programme in 2017 celebrated its best-ever year after a record-breaking 2016, with 2018 its fourth consecutive year of record growth.
