The UK’s top rock festival, Download (based at Donington Park in Leicester), is opening its doors today for early-bird campers eager to get the best camping spots on the site. The attendance of the Festival Republic event’s 16th edition is once again expected to be in excess of 100,000.
The festival lasts for three days, from 8–10 June, and will feature over 100 acts, including headliners Avenged Sevenfold, Guns N’ Roses, Ozzy Osbourne and Marilyn Manson. Other acts appearing at the festival are Black Stone Cherry, Marilyn Manson, Bullet For My Valentine, You Me At Six, Shinedown, Parkway Drive, BABYMETAL, Alexisonfire, The Hives and Neck Deep.
This year Download has appointed three new band bookers, Sean Ryman, Kamran Haq and Steph Van Spronsen, who have helped to book many of the artists performing. Alongside watching some of the biggest acts in rock, fans will be able to experience live WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) NXT shows, take part in activities such as Do.om Yoga, Battle Heritage and Lords of Lightning and shop at an onsite Co-op for the first time.
This year will be the first to incorporate Download’s new improvements to become more sustainable.
