The new Bank of California Stadium, the home ground of Los Angeles FC, aims to become a world-renowned music and entertainment destination
By Jon Chapple on 17 May 2018
LAFC Sports, the owner and operator of Los Angeles’ Banc of California Stadium, has announced the formation of Banc of California Stadium Entertainment (BOCS Entertainment), a new company aimed at bringing non-football events such as concerts to the 23,000-capacity venue.
The US$350m stadium, home to Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC), opened on 18 April this year with an LAFC match against Seattle Sounders FC.
BOCS Entertainment’s first concert will be on Saturday 2 June, with the iHeartRadio Wango Tango festival hosting acts including Ariana Grande, Shawn Mendes, Meghan Trainor, Backstreet Boys, 5 Seconds of Summer, Janelle Monáe and Marshmello.
The company is headed up by Adam Friendman, who joins as BOCS Entertainment president and EVP of LAFC Sports. He was formerly CEO of promoter Nederlander Concerts, and prior to that House of Blues Concerts.
“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity … grow Banc of California Stadium into the entertainment icon it is destined to become”
“Adam is an experienced, talented and highly respected leader in the entertainment world,” says LAFC Sports president Tom Penn said. “We are thrilled to have someone of his stature leading the launch of Banc of California Stadium Entertainment and growing it into a world-class brand.”
Friedman adds: “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to join Tom, the ownership group and the entire LAFC family in growing Banc of California Stadium into the entertainment icon it is destined to become.
“I am delighted to be surrounded by such incredible people and look forward to building the BOCS Entertainment team and bringing exciting and unique events into the entertainment capital of the world: the city of Los Angeles.”
