One artist lost his life and five others were injured after a lighting truss collapsed on them during a concert in Xuchang, China, on Saturday 12 May.

Footage of the accident, obtained by the Daily Mail, shows a large piece of lighting rig containing multiple lamps swaying over a local orchestra, who were performing in Xudu park in Xuchang city centre.

According to local authorities, the incident occurred during a public festival. In addition to the dead musician, one person suffered serious injuries and four minor injuries.

The Mail footage shows people will bloodied faces and clothes as a result of the impact of the falling truss. Audience members rushed to the stage and attempted to lift up the rig to free those trapped, while others were seen comforting the injured.

The cause of the accident is being investigated, say authorities.
