More than three quarters of British festivalgoers consider their festival experiences to provide good value for money, reveals a new survey of spending habits

The average UK festivalgoer now spends a total of £354.54 per event, according to new research into the rising cost of music festivals – but an overwhelming majority say festivals are still good value.
Surveying 2,000 festivalgoing Britons, insurance website Bobatoo found 82% of people said their “festival experience represented value for money”, although the cost of F&B did come in for some criticism: some 63% of people said the “one area they think is over-priced is festival food and drink”.
Food and drink is the biggest festival outlay, with 35% of festival spend on F&B, more than tickets (29%) and travel (22%).
The survey also discovered men, on average, spend more than women – £400 and £300, respectively – and that those aged 30 and over spend 37% more (£450) per festival than those under 25 (£280).
Glastonbury Festival, meanwhile, is the single most expensive event, with an average spend of £425. Although, as we discovered at IFF last week, Michael Eavis gives it all away to charity…
