The Veteran Tickets Foundation (Vet Tix), an Arizona-based nonprofit which runs the US Tickets for Troops programme, has given away more than three million event tickets to serving military personnel, veterans and their families, it announced yesterday.

The three millionth ticket was presented as a pair to two ‘VetTixers’, veteran Robert Hanna and currently serving soldier Edward Dowgin, who watched Friday’s New York Yankees–Baltimore Orioles baseball match from behind the dug-out at the Yankee Stadium.

“We’re thrilled to have provided currently serving military personnel, veterans and their family members to community events with more than three million tickets,” comments Vet Tix’s CEO, navy veteran Mike Focareto. “This milestone would not have been possible without the continuous support from our partners, sponsors and generous donors. We celebrate in conjunction with them, as they too play an imperative role in the success of Vet Tix.”

“We’re thrilled we were able to contribute to Vet Tix’s milestone of three million tickets distributed”

Vet Tix receives ticket donations from around 20,000 donors, with the biggest being Live Nation.

“Providing veterans and their families with memorable experiences to Live Nation’s concerts is a way for us to thank the military community for their sacrifices,” adds Michael Rapino, Live Nation president and CEO. “We’re thrilled that we were able to contribute to Vet Tix’s milestone of three million tickets distributed and hope to see that number continue to grow in the years to come.”

Vet Tix, founded in 2008, says its goal is to reach one million ticket distributions per annum. More than 550,000 registered VetTixers have so far won tickets.
