IQ Magazine has been published since 2004 – growing from a quarterly journal for ILMC members to the leading concert industry trade title, read by 20,000 live professionals worldwide – but it wasn’t until the beginning of 2016 that we launched our standalone website (the one you’re reading right now) and new IQ Index newsletter.
More than a year has passed since then, and Team IQ have watched as – to paraphrase Chaucer – a little acorn blossomed into a mighty live music-news oak. So, as IQ-Mag.net celebrates its first birthday, allow us a little self-congratulation as we ponder just how far we’ve come…
90% growth in unique users
More than 150,000 unique users visited the IQ site from 21 February 2016–2017.
That equates to more than 220,000 sessions and 330,000 pageviews in that 12-month period, with readers from 198 countries – underlining IQ’s credentials as a truly international publication.
While IQ-Mag.net, as a brand-new site, unsurprisingly took a little while to get off the ground, by the time February 2017 rolled out around we’d experienced 90% year-on-year growth in unique visitors.
Index tops 10,000 subs
The launch of the new website was accompanied by the debut of our email newsletter, IQ Index.
Following 12 months of steady growth, Index now reaches 10,000+ subscribers every week – among them every major promoter, festival, booking agency, venue, ticketing company and industry association in all four corners of the globe.
Index broke several of 2016’s biggest stories – from the companies owed millions by SFX Entertainment to Sky’s acquisition of Una Tickets, the rise of direct licensing and the resurgence of London’s venue scene – becoming the must-read newsletter for everyone working in live music. As one major promoter puts it: “It’s the place our execs are paying the most attention to.”
250,000+ in year two
More than 21,000 people visited IQ-Mag.net in February alone, for a total of 40,500 pageviews.
Using the first two months of 2017 as a guide, that means we’re on course to reach a quarter of a million people in our second year.
