Madness will curate and perform at a new London festival, House of Common, this August bank holiday Monday.

A joint venture between promoter Lock N Load Events and Anglo Hannah Management, the festival, on 29 August, will take place on Clapham Common and also feature “a further 20 bands and DJs across two stages” and “some outstanding guests yet to be announced”.

“We are honoured and privileged that London has found us a place where for one day every year we can have our very own festival, [and] we hereby name that day House of Common,” says a statement from the ska revivalists. (Butlins’ House of Fun Weekender clearly doesn’t count.) “See you in Clapham, Madheads…”

In addition to House of Common and the House of Fun Weekender, Madness (pictured) will appear at Dauwpop, Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival and Fairport’s Cropredy Convention this summer.
