A trade association for the Latin American music industry has launched in Buenos Aires and A Coruña (Corunna) in Spain.

Sonidos Latinos (SoL; ‘Latin Sounds’), an “international alliance between professionals and music companies, artists and brands, international organisations, cultural institutions and governments” that aims to promote Latin American music worldwide, will make its official debut at world music expo Womex (pictured) in Santiago de Compostela, Galicia, Spain, in October, and then have a presence at a number of other music exhibitions and conferences globally.

Organisations and individuals from 14 Latin American countries have so far signed up, including musical and cultural institutions, professional bodies, managers, booking agents, promoters, producers, record labels and distributors.

JAU, a company set up by Latin Grammy-nominated Argentinian producer Fernando ‘Fer’ Isella and Spanish musician/consultant Rómulo Sanjurjo, is behind SoL.
