Broad City introduce Roots Picnic line-up

Ilana Wexler and Abbi Abrams are going to watch Usher, Future, DMX, Leon Bridges – in fact, they're going to watch everyone – at The Roots' annual Philadelphia shindig

By IQ on 02 Feb 2016

Thanks to Abbi and Ilana from Broad City, we’ve just discovered that Leon Bridges, Future and Usher (backed by The Roots) will headline the Roots Picnic festival on 4 June.

The full line-up for the event was announced today in a video starring the two lead characters of the Comedy Central sitcom. Other performers include Blood Orange, Willow Smith, DMX, Swizz Beatz, Kehlani, Jidenna and Anderson .Paak and The Free Nationals.

Roots Picnic 2015 netted festival organisers The Roots record ticket revenues, which led frontman Tariq ‘Black Thought’ Trotter to wonder if the event may be “growing out” of its existing home in Philadelphia. However, the band appear to have decided against moving for 2016: the festival will once again take place at the 6,500-capacity Festival Pier in Philadelphia.
