Agent of the year Emma Banks may have told a crowd of promoters at the European Festival Awards that Arcade Fire won’t tour this year (“I just emailed, like, 20 people telling them they won’t get Arcade Fire!”), but the arty Quebeckers will headline at least two festivals: Bilbao BBK Live and NOS Alive in Lisbon.
BBK Live, on 7, 8 and 9 July, will be only their second live appearance since 2014 (the first will be a benefit concert in Montreal on 19 February). NOS Alive, with BBK Live the band’s only two European festival dates in 2016, takes place on 9 July.
Also announced for BBK Live today were Foals, who will join Pixies, M83, New Order, Hot Chip, Father John Misty and more at the impressively star-studded festival, which costs just £69 for a three-day ticket.
Arcade Fire are currently working on their fifth album, which was “30 per cent done” in September.
