42,000 visitors, 4,100 delegates for ESNS 2016

5.7% more professionals and 2.2% more fans attended the latest edition of the Groningen conference/showcase festival compared to last year

A total of 42,100 visitors and 4,124 industry professionals from 40 nation’s attended the sold-out 30th Eurosonic Noorderslag (ESNS) conference and showcase festival in Groningen, Netherlands, from 13 to 16 January.

That’s a 5.7 per cent increase in delegates and 2.2 per cent increase in overall visitor numbers compared to the 2014 event, which boasted 3,900 delegates and 41,200 music fans in attendance.

No less than 345 acts performed at 42 Eurosonic- and 11 Norderslaag-branded venues, witnessed by 425 journalists (including five from IQ/ILMC). Also in Groningen were 37 EBU radio stations, 95 ETEP festivals and 424 international festivals.

The 2016 European Festival Awards, co-presented by regular host Ben Challis and IQ editor Gordon Masson, were held on 13 January, on the eve of ESNS. Click here for a full list of winners.

Eurosonic Noorderslag 2017 is scheduled for 11 to 14 January.
