Ed Sheeran sets Perth Stadium attendance record

Stadium crowd saw Sheeran beat record set by Foo Fighters in 2011

Continuing the phenomenon of one man and an acoustic guitar wowing stadium crowds, Ed Sheeran has set a new attendance record for nib Stadium in Perth, playing to 32,000 fans on 3 December.

The concert was set to the same stage configuration, facing across the pitch, as used by the previous record holders, Foo Fighters, who sold nearly 30,000 tickets in 2011.

VenuesWest Chief Executive Officer David Etherton says, “not since the Foo Fighters back in March have this many patrons attended nib Stadium and I commend this great effort to all the floor staff, security, the venue response team and event and food staff for making it a great success.”

The stadium is owned by VenuesWest on behalf of the State government. Sheeran’s show was promoted by Frontier Touring.
